Reasons to Seek Homeopathic Care
Homeopathy has helped uncounted millions of people in the last 200 years since its inception by Dr
Samuel Hahnemann and millions of people throughout the world use it as part of their health care on
a regular basis. [1] The main reason why people seek homeopathic care is to help in chronic conditions
for which conventional medicine, despite its impressive development, has been unable to offer cure
or even sustained symptom relief. People are also becoming increasingly worried about issues such as
the technological and increasingly impersonal character of conventional medicine, the detrimental
side effects and toxicity of synthetic drugs, plus the growing resistance to antibiotics.
[1] According to a survey by European Commission, 3 out of 4 people know about homeopathy and of these about 30%
use it for their health care
Choose Homeopathic Care
Other people choose homeopathic care because its holistic approach integrates their own values and beliefs towards health and life. Many doctors share their patients’ concerns about conventional medicine, and over the last 15 years large numbers of doctors have started to either refer to or practise homeopathy and other forms of Complementary Medicine.
Integrate Homeopathic Care
Today, people feel themselves responsible for their own lives and for their own health. They want to make their own choice of treatment and in many cases this choice is to integrate homeopathic care and conventional medicine care for themselves or their children. This right of self-determination is a basic human right. Of course, most users of homeopathic care do not wish to give up conventional medicine but just want to choose to integrate homeopathic care to produce the best result for them in their overall health care. People want the broadest choice of possible treatment, guaranteeing the maximum level of safety, and accurate information on the quality, effectiveness, safety and possible risks. The European Parliament has correctly stated that "it is increasingly widely held that different methods of treatment and different approaches to health and illness are not mutually exclusive, but can on the contrary be used to complement one another."
Benefits of a Holistic Approach to Care
People increasingly recognize the benefits of a holistic approach to care, where the doctor sees them as a whole, rather than a clinical condition or a set of symptoms and takes time to listen. Homeopathy has a holistic perspective – the patient is considered as unique, requiring individual assessment and treatment. Homeopathy integrates the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical symptoms of the total person. Individuals are seen as living systems that are self-healing, self-renewing, homeostatic and adaptive. Health is not merely the absence of disease/illness, but the ability of a person to respond adaptively to a wide range of environmental challenges. Disease is considered a result of imbalance of the whole individual rather than a local disturbance in a part.
Homeopathy treats causes, not just symptoms
Homeopathic care looks beyond the labels of disease to treat and sometimes cure their causes rather than merely their symptoms and it stimulates the body’s own natural healing powers to bring health, vitality and well-being. Homeopathy does not treat superficially by driving away the symptoms but promotes natural healing from within. Homeopathy uses medicines that cover the disturbance of the whole person rather than giving different medicines for different parts of the body. Patients who are healing report improvement in overall energy, mood, quality of sleep, digestion, and the disappearance of other symptoms apparently unrelated to the main condition being treated by Homeopathy.
