Frequently Asked Questions about Homeopathy

Is Homeopathy safe?

Yes. This is because homeopathic medicines are made from a very small amount of the active ingredients using a process of serial dilution and succussion (vigorous shaking). Two hundred years of practice, research and trials have proved the safety of this gentle system of medical treatment. Unlike some synthetic drugs, homeopathic medicines are non-addictive and have no dangerous side-effects. Homeopathy is particularly safe to use for babies, children and pregnant and breast-feeding women under the supervision of a properly qualified homeopathic physician.

Are there any side affects with Homeopathy?

No. Users and critics both agree that there are no serious side effects from taking homeopathic medicines. It is not possible to overdose on homeopathic medicines. Homeopathic medicines are not addictive or habit forming. Homeopathic medicines are derived from natural substances, including plants and minerals. They are prepared in licensed pharmacies under strict control and can be given in tablet, granule or liquid form.

What happens during a Homeopathic Consultation?

A homeopathic consultation focuses on the whole person, and enables homeopathic medicines to be selected on the basis of all aspects of the patient and his or her symptoms. This means that each treatment – like each person – is unique. The consultation will consist of questions about your symptoms and everything that might influence them: the effects of time of day, position, temperature, weather changes, the time of month, seasons, situations and emotions, diet, exercise, lifestyle. This enables the physician form a complete picture of you in order to prescribe the best homeopathic medicine for you.

How long will the homeopathic treatment last?

Treatment lasts as long as your body needs support to overcome your illness, so the length of treatment depends on many things: how long you have been ill, how severely you are ill, how long it might take your body to repair a particular tissue (it takes longer to repair damaged joints or bones than to repair damaged skin). People usually begin to respond to homeopathic treatment soon and once improvement begins it continues.
A Homeopathic Medicine prescribed especially for you and your condition can be taken daily or as required for intermittent conditions. The frequency of dose depends on the nature of each patient and their illness. Repeated doses of homeopathic medicine work best if taken in water, as this increases the surface area through which the medicine is absorbed into your body. You will be given full typed instructions on how and how often to take the medicine. Homeopathic medicines do not have a strong taste and are easy to take.

Will the Homeopathy affect the medication I'm currently prescribed?

No. Homeopathic medicines are gentle, yet act deeply and quickly, and will act in harmony with any other medicines you need. You should continue to take all the drugs you are already taking – they will not stop the healing effect of homeopathic medicines and homeopathic treatment will not interfere with or interact with your conventional drugs

Are there different dosages of Homeopathy?

What does Allopathic mean?

Conventional drugs, also called synthetic drugs work in one of 2 ways; either in a way which is different from what your body is trying to do = "allopathic" for example antibiotics, or in the opposite way from what you body is trying to do = "anti-pathic" for example anti-depressants and anti-inflammatory drugs. Homeopathic means similar to or in harmony with what you body is trying to do to heal itself. Homeopathic medicines stimulate your body’s natural healing mechanisms enabling you to properly fight against and overcome your illness in a natural way.
